Transfer of Community Fleet

  • Clevedon Sailing Club (the Club) agrees to take ownership of the community fleet of vessels currently owned by MARLENS, and MARLENS agrees to transfer ownership, on the following understanding:
    1. The boats will be used by the Club.
    2. The boats will also be available for the local community at large.
    3. The boats will be used only on Clevedon Marine Lake.


  • Use by the Club
    The Club will store the boats on Club premises and provide insurance, third party cover, routine maintenance and other necessary safeguards.

    The club will carry on with their sailing activities on the Marine Lake at weekends etc when individuals from the community at large can come along for sail training as a precursor to joining the Club, these sessions will be covered by the Club's own insurance cover and under Club rules.


  • Use by the Community
    Any community organisation (for example schools, scouts, youth clubs...)which wishes to use these boats must satisfy the Club that it will provide the necessary cover for safety, insurances, duty of care plus training where there is a need.

    The club will have authority as to how and when the boats can be used by community organisations, and will exercise this authority in the interest of the community.


  • Community Fleet
    The initial fleet includes 8 sailing dinghies/6 Kayaks/8 launching trolleys plus some safety gear.

    There are plans to add 3 rowing skiffs to the fleet, and these will also be owned by the Club.
