Open Letter to Marine Lake Enthusiasts 2nd June 2007
-
Dear Fellow Enthusiasts,
-
Beginning this New Year with increased enthusiasm, we have agreed a partnership
with Clevedon Sailing Club - and have the backing of North Somerset. The
Partnership will develop “The Clevedon Seafront Water Activities Centre”
It will support all our Local Watersports Enthusiasts with a well maintained
Marine Lake and a Community Fleet of kayaks, sailing dinghies and rowing skiffs
readily available in a secure, easy access store with changing rooms.
-
It will offer funds for the training of instructors in kayaking, sailing,
rowing, open-water swimming and tri-athletics and will ensure that safeguards
are in place for:- Insurance - Health and Safety - Duty of Care – Security –
Staffing - Practice and Instruction.
-
As part of the development plan & the ‘Clevedon Seafront Water-sport
Activity Centre’, we aim to recruit ‘school & club based cadets’ and to
offer them the opportunity to gain national governing body sports awards.
(e.g.through RYA & BCU)
-
To make this work we need to enlist volunteers to support the activities on the
lake and to organise programmes of weekend training practice and enjoyment for
all youngsters within our area who wish to learn to sail, kayak, row, etc.
Could you help with this?
-
Above all we need to recruit new MARLENS members. The member’s
subscription - £5 waged & £2.50 unwaged. See below!!
